  • A watch: it is very important to keep track of time, especially at the beginning when you are not 100% sure how long an activity is going to take. Try to bring with you a watch that you can easily look at, since unblocking your phone, for example, to check the time, might be quite distracting for your students or it might give the impression that you are not paying attention to them. Leave your watch on the table and take a look at it every now and then to manage your timings.
  • A tablet/laptop with audio: One of the most time-consuming and problematic things that can happen in a classroom is to try and play a video or song and realize that the audio is not working. Make sure you have everything set up and that your device is ready to go when you step into the classroom.
  • Keep a record of what you cover, or homework you set: It is important for students to know when an assignment is due and that you don’t forget what you have done or what you are expecting to receive from them. It is always useful to write things down and keep everyone on the same page.
  • Basic Supplies

Pencils (colored & standard), pens, crayons, markers, notebook paper, tape, index cards, poster board, notebooks, folders, erasers, construction paper, and scissors. You’ll probably come up with your own, personal list as well!

  • Deck of cards and dice: These objects are definitely life savers! There are lots of icebreakers and games that can be easily played by having these objects around. Get all your students to write down 5 questions, get the dice rolling and play truth or dare while practicing a specific tense! There are lots of activities for you to come up with

There is nothing more exciting than starting a new career so the most important thing is to give it your all and enjoy it!
