Christmas markets in Madrid 2017

Here we’ll give you all the info you need to be up to date with the Christmas markets in Madrid 2017. Some of the more traditional ones are Plaza Mayor, Plaza de España and Plaza Oriente while Ciento y Pico and New Town Market are more modern and hipster. Plaza Mayor (and Plaza de Santa Cruz)

This is the most traditional market in Madrid. It’s perfect if you’re looking for figurines, Christmas decorations, or real Christmas trees. You will find some funny prank gifts, as well, and a carousel for kids.

Where: Plaza Mayor

Dates: November 24 to December 31

Opening hours: 9:00- 22:00

Metro stops: La Latina, Sol, or Opera

Feria de Artesanía de Navidad at Plaza de Santo Domingo

This is an outdoor market with several stands that offer craft products made of leather, jewelry, winter clothes and other typical Christmas gifts.

Where: Plaza de Santo Domingo

Dates: Everyday until January 8th

Opening hours: 10:00 to 22:00

Metro stop: Santo Domingo

Feria de Artesanía at Plaza de España

Very similar to the previously mentioned market and very close to it, as well. There are several stands that have unique, craft gifts.

Where: Plaza de España

Dates: December 9 to January 5 (Closed December 25th and January 1st)

Opening hours: 11:00-21:00

Metro stop: Plaza de España

Mercado del Gato

Some of the best stands from all over the world will be at this market with exclusive gifts for children’s clothing, cosmetics, vintage clothing, decor, art, designer jewelry and more. In the ‘Gourmet Section’, there is an exhibit of a nativity scene with figurines from around the world, art exhibits, and live music. The non-profit ‘Aldeas Infatiles’ will also be there to give information and raise funds.

Where: C. C. de los Ejércitos (an old military casino), Gran Vía 13

Dates: December 15 to January 5

Opening hours: 11:00-21:00

Feria Dulces de Navidad at Plaza Isabel II

In front of the ‘Teatro Real’ there is a small market where you can buy typical Christmas and international sweets.

Where: Plaza de Oriente

Dates: Everyday until January 8

Opening hours: 10:00-22:00

Metro stop: Ópera

New Town Market

This is a two-story pop up market with a patio and garden. It has the latest trends, accessories, fashion, gourmet food stands, and a bar to enjoy it all with a cocktail in hand.

Where: Calle Princesa 66, in front of the Palacio Real

Dates: December 11 to January 5 (closed Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1)

Opening hours: 11:30-21:00

Metro stop: Ópera

La Navideña: La Feria Internacional de Culturas

La Navideña is a cultural fair at El Matadero with over 250 activities organized by 75 embassies and cultural organizations. Every day starting at noon you can walk around the fair, where more than 60 countries sell traditional gifts and food, and offer authentic artisan products. You can find Southamerican empanadas, Central European chocolates, mulled wine and much more.

Dates: December 15-29

Opening hours: 15-17 dec. 12:00 to 20:30, 18-22 dec. 13:30 to 20:00, 23 dec. 12:00 to 20:30, 26-29 dec. 11:30 to 20:30

Ciento y Pico Market

A few days before Christmas, this hipster pop-up store will open its doors. Everything at the market will be of designer quality and there will be an art exhibit on the bottom floor.

Where: Calle Velarde 14

Dates: December 20-23

Opening hours: Fridays 17:00-22:00, Saturdays 12:00-22:00, Sundays 12:00-20:00
