Happy International Beer Day! Today, more than any other day, it’s extremely important to find a good bar with quality beer to celebrate the occasion. When it comes to craft beer in Madrid, five years ago you had to look far and wide to find it but now, a new bar or store opens up every month which is just fantastic for a true craft beer lover. We have suggested our best places to enjoy international and local craft beer in Madrid. Check them out!
Toast Tavern
The Toast Tavern is part of the Grupo Bang Bang restaurants, which offer an amazing selection of craft beer and knowledgeable staff that are happy to guide you based on your beer tastes. There are 8 craft beers on tap and the food is also highly recommended. We love the Roast Beef sandwich but if you’ve got vegetarian friends, no worries, because they have a deli sandwich for every taste. You’re sure to find something you like!
The Stuyck Co.
These people KNOW their beer. Stuyck and Co. has 14 taps with some of the most exclusive types of craft beer around. Despite having the staples of craft beer, like IPAs, they like to include unique beers that are perfect for connoisseurs and those with a taste for adventure.
To munch on, they offer modern style tapas like Vietnamese baos and garlic shrimp gyoza. Best of all, it’s located in Malasaña which is full of hip and lively bars and restaurants to continue your evening.
La Virgen Brewery
La Virgen is one of the pioneers of craft beer in Madrid and their brewery is located north of the city in Las Rozas. Every day they serve freshly brewed beer and delicious burgers, and on Wednesday evenings you can get a tour of the brewery and indulge in a fantastic beer tasting. Find tickets for the tasting here.
Fogg Bar
This father-daughter venture has two of my favorite things: cheese and beer. Located in the international and buzzing neighborhood of Lavapiés, you can’t go wrong at Fogg Bar Cheese and Birras. They serve a free yummy, cheese-inspired tapa every time you order a drink and have a great selection of beers. The owners offer impeccable customer service and bend over backwards to make your experience unforgettable.
La Fábrica Maravillas
La Fábrica Maravillas was the first microbrew bar in Madrid and continues to satisfy their customers with their selection of beers brewed on premises. The coolest part is that you can actually see the beer vats inside the bar and get a first glimpse of the magic. It’s just a bar so don’t count on eating anything besides olives or mixed nuts but it’s located in Malasaña so you’ll have plenty of options to get something to eat after you’ve built up an appetite.
Now that you’ve got some great suggestions to enjoy international beer day, make plans with friends and have fun. Are there any other places you recommend in Madrid for craft beer? Leave a comment on our Facebook page.
