Giving back: TtMadrid’s partnership with Kelele Africa

The team at TtMadrid has always had real passion for education. After 15 years training language teachers and generally having a love affair with sharing knowledge and experiences, our community is always looking for ways to give back and one of these ways is a partnership with Kelele Africa Organization.

Kelele Africa’s Activities

Kelele Africa’s work in health and gender equality

Kelele Africa is a non-profit organization established in 2011. It runs various projects on education, health and gender equality in communities of Kasenda and Kimya in Uganda.

The organization started with the construction of a fully equipped sewing workshop led by a teacher. As a result of this effort, almost 100 women have received professional training. At the request of the Kasenda Community, Kelele Africa built “St Francis Xavier Health Centre”, for women to give birth in a medical center with professional staff.

Kelele Africa’s work in education

Understanding the importance of education, Kelele Africa began helping a school in the area and eventually built its own multifunctional eco-school called “KUMWENYA SCHOOL”.  Since 2015 the school has had two Spanish teachers that train and supervise local teachers throughout the school year.

Kelele ATEGEKA DEO - August 2019

We started sponsoring Ategeka Deo when he was 14 years old and had just completed his Primary education in December 2017.

Since 2019, Ategeka Deo has been studying at Kabarole Adventist High school in Fort Portal. He’s playing sports and has adapted well academically, working hard in all his subjects and is especially excelling in English! We receive a report card every term and we are keeping up to date with his progress.

As of 2022, we’re glad to see that Ategeka Deo is excelling in his studies after the Covid-19 pandemic put the world to a halt back in March 2020. Ategeka Deo has since returned to Kabarole Adventist High school and is back playing sports and working hard despite all the obstacles he has faced during the global pandemic.

As Kelele Africa continues its work in education, health and gender equality, we hope to promote and share their progress amongst the TtMadrid community. Their goal is to make each of the projects as self-sustainable as possible. If you’re interested in joining their cause, you can choose from multiple options or even help by spreading the word about the organization.

You can donate, sponsor or just find out more information on the impressive work that has been done by Kelele Africa on their web page, or follow them on Facebook to keep up with the progress on new and existing projects.
